Volpara Dose RT’s new features

VolparaDoseRT adds a new set of functions to the Volpara Density scorecard. This software uses the volumetric quantitative data from the Volpara Density software and calculates patient-specific mean glandular dose (MGD) per image. The results of VolparaDoseRT will vary from the indicated dose of the X-ray manufacturer. The reason is that VolparaDoseRT makes no assumptions about the distribution of fat to glandular tissue, which is done by conventional algorithms, but VolparaDoseRT always uses the volumetrically calculated data of VolparaDensity.

The score card

All the results are displayed on the secondary capture image (Scorecard) of Volpara. The results of the patient-specific dose and density can be integrated in reports and documents (from SC picture or from a mammography CAD SR).

Why compressive force is not equal to pressure

VolparaDoseRT also calculates the individual amount of pressure that was applied by a paddle of the mammography system to the patient during the screening. Too little pressure can lead to movement of the patient and furthermore, image effect (Blur). Too little pressure also leads to a higher radiation dose. On the other hand if the pressure is too high the patient suffers from more pain while the strong inclination of the paddle will reduce the image quality.
